The Ascent

Terms of use.

These terms cover your use of this website. They do not create any contract for coaching or mentorship. Any paid programme is agreed separately, in writing, before you commit to anything.

This website is operated by The Ascent, a trading name of Jonathan David, a sole trader based in London, England.

By using this website you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.

What the website is for

The website gives information about The Ascent, its mission, the three pillars of Vision, Foundation and Execution, its founder, the Inner Ascent community and The Ascent Method. It is provided for general information only.

Information, not advice

Nothing on this website is medical, psychological, therapeutic, financial, legal or pastoral advice, and it is not a substitute for any of those. The content reflects the founder’s convictions and experience. No particular result, spiritual or otherwise, is promised or guaranteed, and nothing on this site should be relied on in place of advice from a suitably qualified professional. If you are in crisis or your health is at risk, contact your GP, NHS 111 or the emergency services.

Paid programmes

The Ascent Method is a separate, paid, personalised one-to-one programme. Nothing on this website is an offer to provide it, and no contract for it is formed through this website. If you enquire, we will talk with you first. Before you agree to anything, we will give you in writing: a description of what the programme includes and how it is delivered; the total price and how and when it is paid; how long it runs; your right to cancel, including the 14-day cancellation period that applies to consumers under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 and what happens if the programme starts within that period; how to complain; and the terms that will govern the programme. Those written terms, not these website terms, will apply to the programme.

Intellectual property

You may view the site, link to any page, and print or save pages for your own personal, non-commercial use. You may not copy, reproduce, adapt, publish or distribute any part of the site for commercial purposes without our written permission.

Acceptable use

You must not use this website in any way that is unlawful, that damages or interferes with it, or that attempts to gain unauthorised access to it, its hosting or any connected system. You must not use automated tools to scrape or copy the site’s content, other than ordinary search engine indexing.

Links to other websites

This website links to our pages on YouTube, TikTok and Instagram and may link to other sites. Those sites are not under our control. We are not responsible for their content, their privacy practices or anything you do on them. A link does not mean we endorse a site.

Accuracy and availability

We take care to keep the content accurate and up to date, but we do not promise that it is complete or free of errors, and we may change it at any time. We do not promise that the website will always be available or free of faults.

Our responsibility to you

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be excluded or limited under the law of England and Wales. Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights as a consumer.

Subject to that, because this website is free to use and provided for information only, we are not responsible for any loss or damage that results from relying on its content, from being unable to use the site, or from any virus or other harmful material that might affect your equipment as a result of using the site or a site it links to. You are responsible for keeping your own device and software protected.

Privacy

How we handle personal information is explained in our privacy notice.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The version on this page when you use the site is the one that applies.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction over any dispute about them. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you may also bring proceedings in your own courts, and nothing here takes away rights you have under the law where you live.
